Ronald James Ackerman, resident of Kansas City North passed away Monday June 13, 2011. Born in Brantford, Ontario in 1917 he grew up in Port Huron, MI, where he married his wife of 64 years Elizabeth (Betty) Papinaw. He spent 42 years in management with Chrysler Corp moving from St. Clair Shores to KC. During WWII he spent 4 years in Europe and was promoted to Staff Sgt. and awarded the Bronze Star for Distinguished and Meritorious Service. He is survived by his wife, Betty; five children and spouses: Gary and Carol Ackerman, Roger and Becky Edgar, Mike and Beth Schrantz, Larry and Carey Ackerman, John and Judy Murphy; grandchildren: Chad Ackerman, Danelle Keuck, Brenda Freeman, Sarah and Laura Edgar, Tyler Ackerman, Matthew, Kevin, Theresa, and Mary Katlin Murphy; and great grandchildren, Roslyn and Corin Keuck. Visitation Thursday, June 16th 10:00- 10:30 am with a Prayer Service at 10:30 followed by a military graveside all at D.W. Newcomer's Sons Funeral Home, 6600 NE Antioch Rd, Gladstone, MO 64119. A Mass of Remembrance will be held in the afternoon at 4:00 at Santa Marta Retirement Community, 13800 W 116th St., Olathe, KS 66062.
