Edward Neil Henderson
Edward Neil Henderson, who for many years was a resident of Wilmington, passed away Saturday while visiting at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Jean Lamb, 1040 Neptune avenue. He was 74 years of age. Mr. Henderson was born in Durham, Iowa. When he was nine years of age, he moved with his parents to Anaheim. In 1910 he entered the meat business in Wilmington, with his store quarters being located in the old Masonic building on south Avalon boulevard, which was then known as Canal street. He sold to Fred Dean in 1921 and in 1923 was owner of Cedal Laboratories, which manufactured soap products. In 1941 he moved to Lancaster, where he and one of his four sons were active in the Caraco sheep blanket exchange. Besides Mrs. Lamb he is survived by four sons, John, U.S. Navy; Charles, U.S. Marine Corps; Edward, U.S. Army, all overseas, and Neil, of Sherwood, Oregon; three daughters, Mrs. Lorraine Dayton of Long Beach; Mrs. Pearl Maguire of Portland, Oregon, and Mrs. Marion Kresin of Long Beach. Funeral services will be held tomorrow afternoon at two o'clock at Cartwright Mortuary Chapel, 702 Broad avenue, with Rev. Charles H. Swift, Sr., officiating.
