The Deport Times 31 January 1946, Thursday -John W Pirtle,86, died at the home of his son, Lonnie Pirtle at Childress, being carried there about ten days ago. He was born in Tennessee, but had been a resident of this section for many years. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Fannie Pirtle, and four children, Lonnie of Childress, Mrs. Ludie Hoover of Munday, Charlie of South Gate, California, and Otto of San Angelo. He was a member of the Baptist Church at Johntown. Mr. Pirtle was born in Tennessee on October 19, 1859 and was married to Miss Fanny Wright in August, 1881. He was a brother of the late Mrs. R. O. Nobles of Deport and was the son of the second Past Master of Deport Masonic Lodge. Funeral services were conducted Friday afternoon by Rev. Curtis Hoover at the Bogata Baptist Church and burial was in the Rosalie cemetery. Pallbearers were nephews of the deceased, Clarence Nobles, Ben F.Wright,Archie Wright,R. A. Wright,N.A. Nobles and Marvin Nobles.
