Mr. Glenn A. Dukes, 85, son of the late Alma Wren Dukes and the late Dorsey Dukes, entered into rest Tuesday afternoon, April 26, 2011 at Jefferson Hospital. Funeral services will be on Friday, April 29, 2011 in the James Funeral Home Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with the Pastors Jason Burton and Terry Addis officiating. Interment will follow in the family plot at Ways Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jimmy Dukes, Tony Dukes, Wayne Eastus, Kevin Owens, Mitchell Spell and Stanley "Tinky" Walden. Honorary pallbearers will be the Wrens Church of God Men's and Ladies' Adult Sunday School Classes. Glenn was a native of Jefferson County. After joining the Navy and proudly serving his country during WWII, he finished high school, then attended Southern Business School and worked in Atlanta as a bookkeeper for 30 years. Upon retirement in 1982, he moved back home where he worked part-time at various businesses and did volunteer work. Glenn was an active member of Wrens Church of God and served his Lord and Savior faithfully. He loved gospel singing and working in his garden. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends-there will never be another like him. Glenn was also preceded in death by his siblings, Judson Dukes, Dora D. Bell, Ruth D. Eastus, Jimmy Dukes and Natalie D. Pittman. His survivors include his brothers, John Dukes (Regina) and Randy Dukes (Hilda); his sisters, Annette D. Usry and Jean D. Johnson; loads of nephews and nieces; and many brothers and sisters in Christ.
