She was born August 12, 1915 at Richmond, Henrico Co, Virginia. She was a survivor of Polio 3 years of age and learned after many years to walk. She was married in 1931 to Martin Van Buren Griffith. She was the mother of 8 children.
She graduated from the University of Maryland in 1969 with a Bachelor of Science degree. She taught elementary schools in Anne Arundel County from 1957 to 1977. She was a volunteer at the Smithsonian Preserve, a tutor for underprivileged children and taught for the Peace Corps on the Ivory Coast in Africa in the late 1950's. She loved to travel. She was preceded in death by her husband Martin Griffith in 1977 after 46 years of marriage.

Interment was at Hillside Memorial Gardens in Annapolis, Md.
