Mrs. Mary Evelyn Stout passed on at 9:30 p. m. Friday at her home on 2107 Edith St., Murphysboro.

Born on a farm near Ava, Illinois, she became the wife of Cooper Stout of Sato, Illinois, in 1807. The Stouts had lived in Murphysboro permanently since 1918.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Polly Xenia (Massey) Cheatham.

She is survived by two daughters Mrs. Alex Kent and Mrs. Clifton Bowers, both of Murphysboro; two sisters, who are twins, Mrs. Carrie Timlin of Alhambra, California, and Mrs. Dick Culley of Downey, California; and six grand children; Margaret Alice, Michael, Mary, Timothy, and Cooper Bowers; and Joyce Kent Gibbs.

A charter member of the Christian Science Church, Mrs. Stout was known an beloved by many who recognized her devotion to her Church and her family. Her husband was a victim of the tornado of 1925. Mrs. Stout had one son, Paul, deceased, for whom the Murphysboro Paul Stout American Legion Post is named.

Christian Science Services will be hold from the Roberts Funeral Chapel Sunday. March 7, at. 2:30 p. m., and burial will be at the Tower Grove Cemetery.
