Lawrence David Groh was born in Elmer township, Sanilac County Michigan to Jacob and Mary Jane Mitchner Groh. He grew up there when in 1905 his father died and he went along with some of his siblings to his oldest brothers home to live. When WW1 came along, he was drafted and shipped to France. He was in the battle of Meuse-Argonne where he was severely injured by mustard gas and perished a short time later on October 11, 1918. He was never forgotten by his family. I am his great niece. His sister was my Great Grandmother. He was buried in France then later disinterred and brought back to Michigan for burial.
