Leithel H. Blackwell, 80, of Bloomington passed away Thursday, June 16, 2011 at his residence.

He was born March 14, 1931 in Smithville, the son of Elza and Lula (Lutes) Blackwell.

He retired from Woolery Stone Mill as a foreman and previously worked as a cutter at the mill. He was a member of the Millworkers Union and the Assembly of God Church. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife, Norma Jean (Perry) Blackwell; two daughters and sons-in-law, Valerie and Randy Nikirk and Vicki and Montgomery "Monty" Fowler all of Bloomington; four grandchildren, Rachel Heady, Matthew Nikirk, Grant Fowler and Hollyn Fowler, and one great-grandson Michael Heady. Also surviving is one sister Pauline Blackketter of Bloomington.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Harold "Fuzzy" Blackwell, two sisters, Ruth Love and Mabel Vierling, and one granddaughter Erin Michelle Nikirk.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Allen Funeral Home, 4155 S. Old St. Rd. 37 with Rev. Doug Carter officiating. Burial will be at Clover Hill Cemetery where the Veterans Honor Guard will conduct Military Gravesite Rites. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00-8:00 p.m. and one hour preceding the services on Monday.
