U.S. Congressman. He attended the Packard Business College and then engaged in the oil, real estate and automobile businesses. He was a member of the New York State Assembly, in 1907 and was the first county clerk of Bronx County, (1914-18). In 1915, he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-sixth Congress, serving until 1921 and reelected to the Sixty-eighth Congress, in 1923, serving until his death in an automobile accident at age 44.
