NEWS ARTICLE Iron River Reporter January 30 1922 "Soldier's Body Sent To Caspian"
Mrs. Minnie Regano received a telegram Saturday [Jan 28] from the Graves Registration service of Washington, notifying her that the remains of her brother, Private First Class Eugene Louis Trucano, left Jersey City, N.J. Tuesday [Jan 24] morning via Chicago and North Western railroad.
Several ex-service men of Caspian and Stambaugh will be at the station to take the body to the Stambaugh village hall where it will be cared for until Sunday [Feb 5], when it will be laid to rest in the Stambaugh township cemetery. The body will be given full military honors.
All ex-service men who are able to are urged to be at the depot in uniform.

NEWS ARTICLE Iron River Reporter January 31 1922 "Soldier's Body Arrives In Caspian"
The remains of Eugene Louis Trucano, ex-soldier who died in France, arrived in Caspian this morning. The Caspian village fire truck was used to convey the body to the Stambaugh hall. It was escorted by ten men in uniform. The funeral will take place Sunday [Feb 5]. Mr. Trucano is a brother to Mrs. Joe Regano.

The stars and stripes have floated at half mast on the Stambaugh town hall since Tuesday [Jan 31] when the remains of Priv. Eugene Louis Trucano Co. C 1st HQ BN. GR. 89 arrived at Caspian and were conveyed by the Caspian village fire truck to the Stambaugh town hall. Ten men in uniform escorted the body to the hall. The body is being guarded by men in uniform at the Legion room, where it will remain until Sunday [Feb 5] when a military funeral is planned for 2:00. Trucano was killed in action.

NEWS ARTICLE Iron River Reporter February 7 1922 "Funeral Services For Trucano Held"
The remains of Eugene Louis Trucano, ex-soldier killed in action in the World War, were laid to rest on Sunday [Feb 5] afternoon with full military honors. The procession gathered at the town hall at 2:30 P.M. where the body had lain in state since Tuesday [Jan 31]. A sailor as flag bearer headed overseas veterans. The casket draped with the Stars and Stripes and surrounded by large floral offerings from the many friends and from the Villages of Caspian and Stambaugh were borne upon a sleigh drawn by two horses under the escorts of a cavalry man and six ex-soldiers acting as pall-bearers. Carriages with the relatives followed. The funeral cortege was completed by another squad of ex-soldiers and marines. The Caspian band played the funeral march.
From the town hall the remains were taken to the St. Agnes Catholic church at Iron River, the Rev. Fr. Lenhart officiating at the funeral ceremony. The body was laid to rest with the customary military services in the Stambaugh cemetery. Trucano is survived by a sister Mrs. Regano and several other relatives of Caspian.
