Obituary
Josephine S Breeden, age 97, Johnson City, died Wednesday, July 27, 2005, at Broadmore Assisted Living, following a brief illness.

Mrs Breeden was a native of Johnson City, where she has lived most of her life. She was a daughter of the late William David and Lillian Alice Broyles Rush. Mrs Breeden was a homemaker. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the widow of a longtime Deacon and Elder. Mrs Breeden was very active with the women of the church and the women's Sunday school class.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howell C Breeden, in 1995, her son, Joe Howell Breeden, in 1954, a great-granddaughter, Erin N Whittaker, three brothers, Elmer Rush, Dewey Rush and Guy Rush, two sisters, Mable Bennett and Mildred Brown, and her son-in-law, Earl E Whittaker.

Mrs Breeden is survived by her daughter, Venida J Whittaker, Jonesborough; two grandsons, Richard Whittaker, Morehead, Kentucky, and David Whittaker, Nashville; two granddaughters, Susan Monday, Nashville, and Sally McLemore, Knoxville; ten great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The funeral service for Mrs Breeden will be conducted Saturday, July 30, 2005, at 2:30 PM, from the East Chapel of the Appalachian Funeral Home, with Reverend Donald R Muncie and Reverend Baron Eliason, officiating. Interment will follow in the Monte Vista Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be Richard and Matthew Whittaker, Wade, David and Joseph McLemore, and Bob Sams. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00-2:30 PM in the East Parlor of the funeral home.
