Birth: Cumberland county, Virginia

Reportedly paternal grandfather arrived in 1801 settling in Virginia near Richmond to farm. Father, Judge Robert Frayser, passed away in 1831.

Graduated University of Pennsylvania medical school 1834, moved to Memphis, Shelby county, 1835 partnered with Dr Jeptha Fowlkes in a book store while living at City Hotel on Winchester near Main.

Married in 1837.

It was in 1838 that Dr Frayser with other doctors were able to get a Board of Health created to serve their area.

Newspaper article of 5 April 1839 in Memphis Enquirer, to wit:

"Dentistry – Geo. H. PARKER, M.D., offers his professional services to the citizens of this place and vicinity.  The claims which he offers for their patronage are a very extensive experience in every branch of his profession, and a diploma from the University of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia.  Ladies attended at their residence.  Room at Dr. FRAYSER'S office." Dr FRAYSER partnered with Dr Solon BORLAND:

Census: 1840, Memphis city, Shelby county, Tennessee listed same page with friends Dr Jeptha FOWLKES, Henry R PUGH and Dr Solon BORLAND with whom he was once a partner.

An article in The Western Journal of Medicine and Surgery, Vol. IV, no. 4, October 1841 regarding Dr Frayser.

Census: 1850, age 35, Memphis, Shelby county, Tennessee with wife & five kids.

Census: 1860, age 40, District 5, Shelby county, Tennessee with wife & seven kids.

Census: 1870, age 52 Memphs, Shelby county, Tennessee with wife & six kids.

City Directories starting 1880 have his home at 104 Union, with sons John C, while living and David A who lived there after father's death.

Memphis City Directory: 1890, lists John R Frayser, which is highly questionable.

Memphis' 1957 annexation of Frayser Community, north of Wolf river, is thought to be named for Dr Frayser because his country farm was once located therein.

Served, and survived, his community through several Yellow Fever epidemics, including the big one in 1878, which took over 5,000 lives and bankrupted Memphis, of the over 20,000 lives in the valley.

Death: Shelby county, Tennessee, burial in Memphis' Elmwood cemetery.No grave marker found 07/29.
