Born in Westminster, Md., she was a daughter of the late William J.F. and Bertha E. Myers Stewart. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, William H. Abbott.
She was a member of Bethel United Church of Christ, Spring Grove, American Diabetes Association, and the National AARP.
Mrs. Abbott was a 1972 graduate of the Peg Horn Beauty School, Hanover. Shortly after her graduation she established and operated the Virginia L. Abbott Beauty Salon, Hanover.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Brenda K. Dickensheets, Hanover and Debra J. Yost of New Oxford; four grandchildren; one brother William J.R. Stewart; of Westminster and two sisters, Kathleen I. Jones of Manchester and Shirley M. Dickinson of Westminster.
