STARKSBORO - Charles Dana Gibson, 74, passed away Friday, June 17, 2011, at his home in Starksboro.
He was born Sept. 22, 1936, in Fairfield, the son of Charles Dana Gibson and Florence Catherine Elliott Gibson Jensen.
He was a member of Bristol American Legion Post #19. He served in the Vermont Air National Guard, he was a selectman for the town of Starksboro, and he was a little league baseball coach. He worked on farms, paving superintendent for L.M. Pike Asphalt Paving, owner and operator of CG Asphalt Paving, and later he worked at Hinesburg Sand & Gravel and L.A. Demers Middlebury Quarry.
Charles is survived by his wife of 54 years, Carolyn Orvis Gibson of Starksboro; his children, Cheryl Anne (Gibson) Upton and husband, Dana, of Falls Church, Va., Christopher Charles Gibson and wife, Barbara, of Starksboro, Clifton Dana Gibson of Wilmington, Del.; four grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Dorothy Orvis; sister, Rita June (Gibson) Williamson of Halifax, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2011, at Starksboro Meeting House.
Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery in Bristol. Friends may call at his home in Starksboro, 720 Ireland Road, on Wednesday, June 22nd, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
