U.S. Congressman. He attended the University of Illinois, Business College, George Washington University, Washington, D.C., and taught school. He was a stenographer, United States post office inspector, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1909, and commenced to practice law in Champaign, Illinois. In 1933, he was elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-third and Seventy-fourth Congresses, serving until 1937. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he resumed his practice of law until his death at age 64.
