Mrs. Hattie Cutting
Mrs Hattie Louise (Brown) Cutting of Irasbury passed away on Easter Sunday, March 29, (1970) at the Maple Lane Nursing Home in Barton. She was born on Jan 24 1879 at Magoon's Point, Que., the daughter of James Brown and Inez Merrill. When a young girl, she moved to Newport with her parents.
On June 1, 1904, she was married to Charles Cutting of Newport Center, who predeceased her in May on 1961.
To this union were born five children: Zora of Haverstown, NY, Harold of Irasburg, Josie (deceased), Arnold of Worcester, Mass., Alton of St. Johnsbury, and Maureen (adopted) of Keene, NH, who survive her besides 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Also, a sister, Mrs. Olive Purdy of Lunenburg.
Mrs. Cutting was a devoted wife and mother, and a member of the Advent Christian Church of Newport.
Funeral services were held at the Curtis Funeral Chapel in Newport on Wed. Apr 1 at 2pm, with Rev. Charles Bentley officiating. spring interment will be in the Newport Center Cemetery.
Bearers were her grandsons Larry, Leslie, Leigh, Donald Cutting, Lyle Alexander, and William Lawson.
Relatives from out of town to attend were: Mrs Zora Alexander and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Alexander of Haverstown, NY; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Corbett, Middlebury; Mr and Mrs Leslie Cutting, Randolph; Mr. and Mrs Alton Cutting and Leigh of St. Johnsbury; Mr and Mrs Clayton Stowell Jr.,Coventry, Mr and Mrs Donald Cutting, Mr and Mrs Larry Cutting, Robert and Larry Jr.,and Mr and Mrs William Lawson of Irasburg; also Mr and Mrs Melvin Willis of Barton and Nat Scott and Mrs. Viola Poirier of Orleans, also several friends and neighbors.
