Mrs. Ruth D. Gerrin
Mrs. Ruth D. Gerrin age 78 of 419 Church St., Rome, died Monday evening April 28, 2003, following a lengthy illness.
A native of Floyd County, Mrs. Gerrin was born May 30, 1924, daughter of the late Jeff Lee Scott and Mary Naomi Shuler Scott. She had lived all of her life in Rome and Floyd County. Mrs. Gerrin was a homemaker and enjoyed gardening and quilting. Mrs. Gerrin was known to everyone who knew her as a loving and thoughtful person. She was preceded in death by one son, Danny Gerrin; one daughter Carol Gerrin, two sisters Annie Belle Forrester and Levie Nell Taylor; one brother Virgil Scott.
Mrs. Gerrin is survived by her husband, Grady Gerrin, to whom she was married May 27, 1944, two sons; Donnie Gerrin and Bryan Gerrin, both of Rome; two sisters Lucille Taylor of Lexington and Ellie Elliott of Gainesville, three grandchildren, Andy Gerrin, Michelle Pollard and Justin Pollard, all of Rome.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gerrin will be held on Thursday morning at 11 a.m. in the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home with J. Parnick Jennings Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in the East View Cemetery.
Mrs. Gerrin will lie in state at the Heritage Chapel of the Jennings Funeral Home where the family will receive friends this evening from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. At other hours the family may be contacted at the residents.
