US Congressman. Born in Fort Muncy, Pennsylvania, he graduated from the Friends’ School in 1803, was a US Deputy Surveyor General, and cashier of the Union and Northumberland County Bank. He studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1819 and commenced to practice law in Muncy, Pennsylvania. He was elected as a Republican in 1820, to the Seventeenth Congress, but resigned before the Congress assembled. In 1823, he was elected as a Jackson Federalist candidate to the Eighteenth Congress, serving until 1825 and was a member of the Pennsylvania State House of Representatives. He then resumed the practice of law in Muncy, Pennsylvania, until his death at age 84.
