US Congressman. Elected to represent South Dakota as At-Large in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1891 to 1893. Also served as a Member of the Dakota Territorial House of Representatives in 1867, Alternate Delegate to Republican National Convention from Dakota Territory in 1868, Member of Dakota Territorial Council from 1874 to 1876, Mayor of Vermillion, South Dakota, in 1877, and Member of the South Dakota State Senate in 1889.
