1774 in ye 24 year of his age
From The Fessenden Family in America: STEPHEN FESSENDEN (b. Oct. 27, 1750, prob. Sandwich, Mass.) was a sailor. His father [Benjamin] writes: "On Sabbath day, July 3, 1774, at about 40 minutes after eleven o'clock P.M., died my oldest son. Stephen died on board the sloop 'Sally,' on his voyage home from the W. Indies, Nehemiah Webb, Master. The sloop being then on this side Monument Point, on Monday morning I went on board, and heard the melancholy news, and that day his corpse was brought home and on Tuesday the 5th he was buried. The bearers were Stephen Chipman, Stephen Hall, Wlliam Tobie, Stephen Nye, Jr, Stephen Tobie and Lemuel Tobie."
