US Congressman. Born in Franklin, Indiana, he was graduated from Franklin College in 1882, studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1886 and commenced to practice law in Franklin, Indiana. He was a member of the Republican State central committee of Indiana in 1892. In 1895, he was elected as a Republican to the Fifty-fourth Congress and to the next six succeeding Congresses, serving until 1909. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 50 in Indianapolis, Indiana.
