A native of Alabama, Mr. Acklin came to Texas as a young man during the 1880's and settled at Lockhart, where he engaged in the cattle business for a number of years. Later he moved to Manor and thence to Bell County, where he was engaging in farming. He retired in 1925 and at that time moved to Dallas.
He was a Mason and a member of the Rosemont Christian Church.
Survived by his wife, Mrs. Ida Acklin; son, Horace E. Acklin, Jr.; three daughters, Mrs. J. H. Slocum, Mrs. B. N. Maples, and Miss Elizabeth Acklin, all of Dallas; two brothers, E. M. Acklin, Austin, and W. H. Acklin, Santa Rita, N. M.; sister Mrs. W. C. Mehane, Alvin; and six grandchildren.
Services wil be 2 p. m. Thursday at Weiland Funeral Chapel. Burial in Grove Hill Cemetery.
