35 Years Railroader Charles Kett, 59, Dies – Interment Gravenhurst

Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 23, 1954, for Charles Kett, 59, of Gravenhurst, who was a railroad employee 35 years.
Mr. Kett died suddenly on Wednesday, Oct. 20, while he and his wife were visiting friends at Kirkland Lake. He has had a heart ailment the past five years.
The deceased was born at Sadowa, near Sebright. He started his railroad career as a fireman at Allandale and came to Gravenhurst in 1926 to join the machine department with which he served until the time of his death. He was first married to Elizabeth Cooper of Cooper's Falls who predeceased him 12 years ago. Four years ago he married Eva Bagley of Orillia.
Several years ago Mr. Kett served on Town Council and was one of those who strongly advo- (unreadable) with Rev. E.C. Armstrong conducting. Masonic members attended in a body. Interment was in Mickle Memorial Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ed Hogen, Wilbert Jackson, W.E. MacDonald, Rudolph Pulfer, Stanley Sugg and Lorne Traves who were fellow railroad employees and Masons.
Surviving are his wife, three daughters, Christina (Mrs. Lyle Brandon) of Orillia, Gertrude (Mrs. Graydon Knapp) of Barrie, and Marie (Mrs. Lyle Bagley) of Orillia, and seven grandchildren.
