MRS. KATE KRATSINGER DEAD

Mrs. L.L. Casper received a telegram Thursday at noon conveying the news of the death of her aunt, Mrs. Kate Kratsinger, which occurred at Sioux City, Iowa, Thursday morning, January 24th. The body will be brought to Anna for burial by her daughter, Miss Elsie Kratsinger, arriving on train No. 1 at 5:17 Saturday evening and funeral services will be held at the Norris Funeral Home on Sunday, January 27.

Catherine (Finch) Kratzinger died in Sioux City, Iowa, and was buried Jonesboro Cemetery. Her funeral was at First Methodist Episcopal Church in Anna. She was born 13 Oct 1846, in Hinckly, Medina Co., Ohio, the daughter of William and Louisa Finch. She married in 1864 Sherman Griffin. They went West in a covered wagon to Nebraska, where her husband died 10 years later. She married in 1878 William Kratzinger, who died in 1907, and moved to Anna. She then moved to Iowa to live with her daughter. She was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church. She left one daughter, Elsie wife of E. S. Taft, of Sioux City, Iowa; one son, Bert H. Griffin, of Thornton, Calif.; one stepson, H. S. Kratzinger, of ST. Joseph, Mo.; several grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

MRS. WM. KRATZINGER

The remains of Mrs. Wm. Kratzinger, a former resident of Anna, who died in Sioux City, Iowa, Thursday of last week arrived here last Saturday evening for burial. They were accompanied by her daughter, Elsie, now Mrs. E.S. Taft of Sioux City. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the First M.E. church of Anna, conducted by Rev. W.H. McPherson and interment was made in the Jonesboro cemetery. The following obituary was read at the funeral service:

Catherine Finch Kratzinger was born October 13, 1846 in Hinckly, Medina County, Ohio. She was the daughter of William and Louisa Finch. She grew to womanhood in that county and in 1864 was married to Sherman Griffin. They went west in a covered wagon to Nebraska where they made their home and lived until the husband's death ten years later.

Three children were born to this union, May, who died in infancy, Cora Belle, who died in 1881 and Bert H. Griffin of Thornton, California. In 1878 she was married to William Kratzinger and came to make her home in this community. To this union one daughter was born, Elsie, now Mrs. E.S. Taft, of Sioux City, Iowa.

Mr. Kratzinger died in 1907, and in 1913 Mrs. Kratzinger went to Sioux City, Iowa, to make her home with her daughter. Mrs. Kratzinger was a life long member of the Methodist Episcopal church and was for many years active in the work of the Methodist church of Anna. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. E.S. Taft of Sioux City, Iowa, one son, Bert H. Griffin of Thornton, Calif., and one step-son, H.S. Kratzinger, of St. Joseph, Mo., and several grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
