Beulaville - Mrs. Eliza Ellen Batts Lanier, 89, of Route 1, Beulaville, died Sunday morning in Duplin General Hospital in Kenansville after a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. from the Edgerton Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Bob Wring. Burial will follow in the Lanier Family Cemetery. She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Leslie (Maggie) Aycock of Wilmington, five sons, Gurman Lanier, Homer Lanier, Bob Jack Lanier all of Beulaville, Thurman Lanier of Chinquapin, and Tommie Lanier of Burgaw, 16 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. A native of Duplin County, Mrs. Lanier was the daughter of the late Gary and Nancy Alice Wilson Batts and was the widow of James Albert Lanier. She was a member of the Cole's Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church. Casketbearers will be L.D. Aycock, Bill Aycock, Gene David Lanier, Jefferey Lanier, James Raymond Lanier and Thomas Lanier, Jr. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and will be at the residence of Mr. & Mrs. Gurman Lanier, Route 1, Beulaville other times.
