Charles Ready Esquire moved to Tennessee in 1797 (Sumner County) from North Carolina and married Mary Palmer. In 1802 he moved to middle Tennessee, just south east of Nashville. He built a grist mill, farmed and was one of the first "county commissioners" in the area.
In 1811, a post office was established in the villiage and the area was named Readyville.
He and Mary would have ten (10) children and would live to see five (5) of his children pass.
At the time of his death in 1859, he was considered wealthy and a pillar of Tennessee society.
