Died Suddenly

John Snoke departed from this world at his home in Chetek, July 23, 1915 at the age of seventy-six years and four days. Death came to him as easy as to anyone. He just went to sleep naturally and peacefully and never woke up. Dr. Malcom was called and he pronounced death due to heart failure.

Mr. Snoke was born in Champion, Ohio, immigrated to Wisconsin with his family in 1869 and settled on a farm in Rush River, St. Croix county, where he lived until 1912. He sold his farm and moved to Chetek to be near his children. At one time he was postmaster at New Centerville for seven years.

He leaves to mourn his departure two sons and two daughters, J.E. Snoke of Montrose, Colo., Charlie Snoke of Menomonie, Wisconsin; Mrs. Mary Robinson and Mrs. Ida Vickery of Chetek; and one brother in Ohio, fourteen grandchildren and one great grandson and other relatives and host of friends.

The funeral was conducted Wednesday, July 28, by Rev. S.W. McKibben of Cameron and Rev. Birchall of Chetek.
