From IL Genealogy Trails:

SARAH J. McLAUGHLIN - Death came to Mrs. Sarah J. McLaughlin, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. C.M. Kingery at 6:30 o'clock Easter Sunday morning. Mrs. McLaughlin was 78 years of age. She had been in poor health from heart trouble for some time and for the past three weeks had been bedfast with complications. She was being cared for by Miss Boyd, a nurse from Mt. Carroll, and her death was expected, but it was no less sad for the daughters and grandchildren.

She was the widow of the late D. N. McLaughlin, who was superintendent of the county farm for a number of years, and treasurer of Carroll county for four years. Mr. and Mrs. Laughlin were former residents of this place, before moving to Mt. Carroll, where Mr. McLaughlin passed away. About three years ago when Mrs. McLaughlin's health began to fail, she took up her residence with her daughter, Mrs. C. M. Kingery of this place. She was a lady who stood high in the estimation and respect of all who knew her. She leaves to mourn her death her daughters, Mrs. C. M. Kingery of this place, Mrs. Rose Higbee of Miami, Florida, also four grandchildren. One daughter Lila preceded her in death. Funeral services were held at the C. M. Kingery home on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Burial was made in Oak Hill cemetery at Mt. Carroll, beside the remains of her husband. -- Sterling Gazette, 3 April 1929
