Mr. Newby, a native of Kansas City, Kan., was in the wholesale sporting goods business for 25 years. He was a 40-year member of the National Rifle Association. Survivors include his wife, Elsa Newby of Denver; a daughter, Marilyn Knapp of Denver; a son, Donald Newby of Indianapolis, Ind.; and three grandchildren.
