Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He was a Captain in the Union Army. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a First Sergeant in Company E, 88th Pennsylvania Infantry for action on July 1, 1863 at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. His citation reads "Assisted in the capture of a Confederate flag by knocking down the color sergeant."
