My dear, sweet Aunt Minnie once lived in Cold Spring (Buffalo, New York), first, at 115 E. Ferry St.(near Masten), then at 256 E. Ferry (near Jefferson). Aunt Minnie was a kind and gentle soul who was like a second mother to me.
She was born ninth of twelve children to the union of Deacon Chapman William and Mary Jane Frazier-Rhodes. Aunt Minnie's "twin" sister (Mamie) was stillborn.
As a child she attended the Friendship Baptist Church. There she confessed a hope in Jesus Christ and was baptized. Later, she moved to Buffalo and united with St. John Baptist Church. She served faithfully until 1973, when she moved to Cincinnati, Ohio. There she united, on her Christian Experience, with the New Hope Baptist Church and remained a faithful member until her death.
Aunt Minnie was a devoted member of the Order of Eastern Star, a chapter of Prince Hall Affiliation of Buffalo.
Her formal education was through the Public School system of Georgia. On November 6, 1946, Aunt Minnie was married to the late Willie Frank Cunningham of Greensboro, Georgia. Their union was blessed with one son, Roy, who preceded her in death in January of 1987; and a devoted daughter, Phyllis Jolly.
To perpetuate her life and cherish her memory; her daughter, Phyllis; seven grand-children; two daughters-in-law; four sisters; three brothers; seven sisters-in-law; six brothers-in-law; a nephew, James Cunningham, who lived with her, plus a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
