Grant was born January 21, 1920, in Lincoln, Idaho, to Chauncy Earl and Martha Ann Barlow Earl. He graduated from Idaho Falls High School. Grant served as a sergeant in the U. S. Army Air Corps during World War II.
He married Lola Rosalie Browning on May 5, 1942 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Grant and Lola owned and operated Earls Food Stores. Lola preceded him in death on April 10, 2010.
An active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in various callings, including Stake MIA Superintendent and a five-year mission at the LDS Family History Center.
Grant was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He volunteered as the coordinator of the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team for many years.
He enjoyed fishing, waterskiing, gardening, and spending time loving his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

19 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lola; a daughter, Nancy; three sisters, Sarah Pedersen, Martha Holyoak, Orma Petersen; and three brothers, Thayne, Chauncy Wayne, and Barlow (stillborn).
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 30, 2011, at the Idaho Falls LDS Stake Center, 1155 First Street, with Bishop Doug Hillman of the Idaho Falls LDS 24th Ward officiating. The family will visit with friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Avenue, and on Thursday from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Burial will be at Fielding Memorial Park next to Lola.
