Keith Matthew Kenison, 82, of Northwood, died Monday (Dec. 18, 2000) at the Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21st, at the First Lutheran Church, 309 N. Ninth St., Northwood, with the Rev. Paul Holmer and Intern Lynn Frank officiating. Interment was in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood. Conner Colonial Chapel in Northwood was in charge of arrangements.

Keith Matthew Kenison was born on April 24, 1918, in rural Bolan, the son of Lewis and Louise (Stehn) Kenison. He was baptized at the family home in rural Bolan and became a member of First Lutheran Church in Northwood in 1946. He attended and received his education in the rural schools near Kensett, graduating from Kensett High School in 1936.
He was united in marriage to Leona Severson on April 1, 1945, at the Shell Rock Lutheran Church in Northwood. After their marriage they lived and farmed near Bolan for 16 years until 1961 when they moved to Northwood. While living in Northwood, Keith worked as superintendent for the Public Works Department for the city of Northwood until 1971, when he became the custodian for the Northwood-Kensett Schools, retiring due to ill health.

He was a member of the First Lutheran Church, former member of the Church Council, Worth County Fair Board, Northwood Lions Club and Worth County 4-H Leader.

Keith enjoyed woodworking and baseball (in his early years he played on the town teams in Kensett and Carpenter). He delighted in biking with his wife, Leona, and he also enjoyed bowling, bird watching, was an avid gardener and was an all-around handyman. However, his great love and enjoyment was his wife, family, grandchildren and also children of all ages.

Left to cherish his memory were his wife, four adult children and their spouses, seven grandchildren, and one sister—as well as other relatives and many friends. His parents preceded him in death.

(Bio has been based—in part—on the published obituary from the Mason City [Iowa] Globe-Gazette, 20 December 2000)
