Mary Hazzard Floyd was the 2nd of 12 children of Gen. John Floyd and Isabella Maria Hazzard. She married Col Everard Hamilton (her father's aide) on 31 Oct 1816 by an Episcopal Minister named Rev. William Matthews at Fairfield Plantation, Camden Co, GA. (Augusta Chronicle, 15 Nov 1816) Everard and Mary Hamilton are my 3-great Grandparents.

She writes in her "Family History" she was born at "The Thickets" in McIntosh Co, GA, at her grandfather Charles Floyd's house. (Her obituary says she was born in St. Mary's, GA - http://dlg.galileo.usg.edu/milledgeville/id:uar1888-0350)

Everard Hamilton and Mary Floyd had 11 children, including #3 Isabella Maria Caroline Hamilton who m. Everard Hamilton Blackshear, a first cousin. Everard and Belle Blackshear are my 2-greats Grandparents.

Gravesite Details

The burial is in a large, raised "family square" plot with other Hamilton burials. This cemetery is worth visiting for its Georgia history. Stop in the small bldg on your left as you enter, for a map and directions to a particular site.
