News Notes
In Dec 1959, Mr. Windas donated his entire library of 192 bound copies of Naval Institute Proceedings magazines to El Camino College, Torrance, CA. The donor described the works as the most authentic unbiased nautical history available, "an accumulative treasure chest of nautical knowledge any student should relish." Also included in the donation was some of his work as a newspaperman and staff cartoonest for a Los Angeles Newspaper. (Los Angeles Times, Sun, 20 Dec 1959, page 4).

Captain and his Work
Captain Cedric W. Windas, retired mariner, devoted 7 years of painstaking work building an authentic minature of the brig "Tradition," displayed at Cabrillo Beach Sea Museum, San Pedro, CA. At 12 ft. long, 3 ft. 6 in. deep, and 14 ft. high, it is the "biggest little ship" on display and the only model in the museum where demonstrations of the working of running gear and yardarms can be conducted. (Los Angeles Times, Sun, July 5, 1959, Pt VIII, p5) (Note: Cabrillo Beach Sea Museum was relocated to the Los Angeles Maritime Museum, 600 Sampson Way, San Pedro CA)
