.....Margaret's father was Sylvanus Bowman Gideon, whose burial site is not known, and she never knew her mother, Marjorie Monte (Purtle) Gideon, who died just one month after Margaret was born. She was raised in Hartville, Missouri by her paternal grandparents, Rev. Thomas Jefferson and Ida May ( Buck ) Gideon. She graduated Hartville High School in 1936 and, then, Draughon Business University in Springfield, Missouri. After her education, Margaret worked for Wright County in the county extension office for two years. In February, 1940, she married Wright County native Paul James Medlock. Soon there after, Margaret and Paul and their baby son moved to Sacramento, California to work in the war effort ( WW-2 ). Margaret was later married to Joseph Raymond Valin of Scotts Valley, California. She was very artistic, working in various mediums and art forms. She earned an award for one of her paintings in 1967 at The California State Fair in Sacramento. Margaret was a life time employee of the State of California, working and retiring in Sacramento. She was the mother of six children, Paul James Jr., Michael Gideon, Joe Allen, and William David Medlock and Linda Louise and Lisa Margaret Valin................Love and PEACE to her memory.
