Reard in Rutherford County, graduate of Cumberland University Law School in 1853. Lawyer in Murfreesboro prewar. Lt., Company K, 23rd Tennessee Infantry Regiment, Aug. 22, 1861; Lt. Col., probably in May 1862. Col., Dec. 16, 1862. Killed at Petersburg, VA. Initially buried in Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, VA.
