Civil War Medal of Honor Recipient. He was a First Sergeant in the Union Army. He was a prisioner of war. He was awarded the Medal of Honor as a Sergeant in Company G, 1st Pennsylvania Rifles for action on July 3, 1863 at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. His citation reads "Capture of flag of 15th Georgia Infantry (C.S.A.)."
