Mrs. Fred Hagen Died Friday A.M.
Mrs. Fred Hagen passed away early Friday morning at the Carter hospital, following several weeks of serious illness, during which time she had been taken to and from the hospital in an effort to do everything that careful attention could devise to make her more comfortable and to ease her condition.
Julia Etta Hagen was born Dec. 5, 1868, in Miami county, Indiana. She lived in that part of the country for more than thirty years and was married to Fred Hagen there. Soon after their marriage they came to Wyoming to live and settled in the Lucerne community, where Mr. Hagen has developed a valuable ranch of large acreage.
About a year after their marriage there was born to them a little baby, Frederick, which passed away a few days after birth, and was buried in Monument Hill cemetery.
Never very strong, Mrs. Hagen had been a sufferer nearly all of her life from St. Vitus dance and nervous trouble. About three weeks before her death she suffered a paralytic stroke on her left side, and at the time death relieved her, she had been unconscious for eleven days. Mrs. Hagen had been in a hospital every year from the time of her young womanhood but had been a patient sufferer always.
During her final illness Mr. and Mrs. Gus Theo Harris came from their home in Salt Lake City to do what they could for Mr. and Mrs. Hagen. Mrs. Harris is a younger sister of Mrs. Hagen.
Besides the bereaved husband, Mrs. Hagen is survived by one brother, A.R. Niccum of Glendale, Calif., besides nephews and nieces.
Mr. Niccum wrote that he was unable to come to Wyoming to see his sister or for her funeral.
The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Eastman mortuary, conducted by the Rev L.K. Barbee. Music was furnished by Mr. and Mrs. Barbee. Mrs. Hagen was laid to rest, amid a wealth of lovely flowers, in Monument Hill cemetery, beside her little baby.
