Ivan was 33 when he enlisted in the Navy in October 1918. A week after he left Nunda word was received of his death due to bronchial pneumonia at Camp Colt, Pennsylvania. He had taken sick the day after his arrival at camp. His was the third military funeral held in Oakwood Cemetery in a five week period.
