Annie Bell Denson Uchello (1925-2004), native of Stone County, Mississippi, was assaulted in her home and expired from her injuries at Biloxi on February 29, 2004. She had been the wife of James Adron Denson (1921-2000) and lived at Mantachie, Itawamba County, Mississippi.

Annie came to Biloxi in 1980 and married Salvador 'Sam' F. Uchello Jr. (1907-1996) in Harrison County, Mississippi on January 24, 1984. He passed on February 22, 1996.(The Sun Herald, March 2, 2004, p. A1 and p. A5 and Harrison Co., Mississippi 2nd JD Circuit Court MRB 27, p. 382)

Annie Denson Uchello, age 79 years and a resident of Biloxi, died Sunday, February 29, 2004, in Biloxi.

Mrs. Uchello was a native of Stone County, Mississippi, a former resident of Mantachie, Mississippi, and a resident of Biloxi for 24 years. She was a member of Bay Vista Baptist Church in Biloxi, and was a retired caregiver for the elderly. Mrs. Uchello enjoyed quilting, crochet, and embroidery, and she loved to go to yard sales.

Mrs. Uchello was preceded in death by her husbands, Sam F. Uchello and James Adron Denson; granddaughter, Pattie Childers; a son-in-law, Roy W. Gann; a brother, Jim Odem; three sisters, Lois Douglas, Louise Brazil, and Ruth Lott; and three half-brothers, Ralph Odem, Columbus Odem, and Johnny Odem.

Survivors include two sons, James Donald Denson, of Mantachie; Phillip Denson, of Biloxi; four daughters, Betty A. Jones, of Mantachie; Peggy Gann, of Baldwin, MS; Dale Hood, of Fulton, MS; and Adrian Lynn Denson, of Hattiesburg; stepson, Sam Uchello, Jr., of Seattle, Washington; sisters, Bonnie Idigpio, of Gulfport; Grace Alexander, of Wiggins; Jean Drew, of Slidell, Louisiana; Betty Meade, of Atlanta, GA; Ruby Williams, and Helen Rybacek, both of Las Vegas, Nevada; Joyce Box, of Perkinston; and Evelyn Humphrey, of Hattiesburg; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

The funeral will be at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at Bay Vista Baptist Church in Biloxi, where friends may call after 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. in the National Cemetery in Biloxi. Riemann Memorial Funeral Home, Beauvoir Road, Biloxi, is in charge of arrangements.
