COLLIVER William E. Colliver, of Slidell, LA, passed away Thursday, February 17, 2011 from complications of Parkinson's Disease he was 75. He was born in Columbus, Ohio April 19, 1935. He got his pilots license at age 17 and never looked back. He joined the U.S. Army as a Paratrooper in 1954. When in the army he married and started his family in Fayetteville, NC. After leaving the service he worked as a civilian on the Aircraft Carrier U.S.S. Ranger for 10 months. He moved his family to Slidell, LA in 1965 and worked at the Mississippi Test Facility on the second stage of the Saturn Five Rocket for the apollo missions. When the Saturn program ended he began working for Lockeed from the same facility and eventually began flying aircraft of various types the last being a lear jet loaded with infa red cameras for Lockeed and NASA. He traveled to many countries sometimes working with pilots from those countries including Russia, Mexico, Columbia. He retired in 2001. During his life he participated in many hobbies including, parachuting, building his own planes and flying them, flying enginefree gliders, motorcycle Enduro racing, and Sno Skiing. His family has loved, admired, and respected him. He will be greatly missed but not forgotten. Peceded in death by his mother Lillian and father Vernon of Columbus Ohio, and his sister Pauline Cummings of Hillsborough, Ohio. Survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Mary Lou Colliver; brother, Richard Colliver of Columbus, Ohio; daughter, Kathleen Just 54 of Chugiak, Alaska; sons: Bill Colliver 56, Jim Colliver 54, and David Colliver 48, all of the Slidell, LA area. He also leaves 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A service and internment will be at the Biloxi National Cemetary in Biloxi, MS at 11:00 am Friday, March 4, 2011. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Parkinson's Fountain.
