American Author and Naval Officer. Enlisted in the Navy in 1930 after dropping out of high school and graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1936. Later in his Navy career he was a pubic information officer at the Pentagon and as a special assistant to CINCPAC in Hawaii to Admiral Felix Stump. He retired at the rank of Navy Captain.

He co-wrote two novels "The Ugly American" and "Sarkhan: a Novel" with Eugene Burdick, a former Navy Lieutenant Commander. Some of his other writings are "A Nation of Sheep", "All the Ship's at Sea", "The Last Cruise; the story of the sinking of the submarine, USS Cochino", "Ensign O'Toole and Me", "Timothy's Song", "Our Own Worst Enemy" an the last one written in 1984 was Creating a Good Relationship. He died at the age of 97 of respiratory failure.
