Emma married George W. Smith, son of Andrew Smith and Sarah Bruce, in Ellington Township, Tuscola County, on April 26, 1900. Emma and George lived with Emma's parents. After Harvey and Matilda separated, Emma and George continued to live with Matilda until June 1910 when Emma died of glandular tuberculosis complicated by heart disease. Emma and George had no known children.
Emma's mother Sarah "Matilda" (Guilds) Delling eventually left Tuscola County. She moved to Pontiac, Michigan, where she lived from 1922 to 1944. At that time she moved back to Tuscola County and took up residence in Caro where she lived until her death in June 1946. She is buried on the same lot in Elkland Township Cemetery as her daughter Emma and her son-in-law George W. Smith.
George W. Smith remarried after Emma's death. He passed away in 1966 and is buried next to Emma in Elkland Cemetery. There is no stone marking George's grave.
