Airman First Class: Robert (Roy) Johnston was the son of William Johnston and Mary Ann (Molly) Neeson of Belfast, Co. Antrim, Northern Ireland. He was one of seven children, brother to John (Jack), William (1935-2004), Conrad (1938-1958), Patrick (1942-2009), brother Charles and only sister Elizabeth.

Roy grew up with his family in the Bronx, Kings, New York area

He was married to Rosemary Terry of England abt. 1956 until Rosemary returned to England in 1961 with divorce following.

Roy had an adventurous and daring nature, he was sensitive, caring and protective of his family, especially his brother Conrad (Con). The two had a very special relationship and Roy never recovered from Con dying so young. He was also fiercely devoted to his only sister Elizabeth (Liz). He would often bring her trinkets to show her how special she was regardless of the effort required to make her day special or dreams come true.

He was a dedicated soldier, committed to his country and willing to sacrifice all in the service to others.

He is remembered with a smile for the character he was and with sorrow for the loss his death bring to the hearts of those who will miss him always.

Rest in Peace Roy.
