Pioneer Woman Dies Monday at Home in Aurora
Funeral services were held Wednesday forenoon at Aurora for Mrs. Mary Colby Anderson, 73, who passed away at her home there Monday evening. Interment was in the Aurora cemetery.
Mrs. Anderson one of Aurora's esteemed pioneer women and a faithful Latter-day Saint, was born at Springville, August 6, 1859, a daughter of Ransford and Margaret Samson Colby. She spent her girlhood in Springville and Holden, and after her marriage to Andrew Anderson in 1877, came with him to Aurora, then known as Willow Bend to make her home. She was the mother of six daughters and three sons, and also raised two other children, one a sister of Mrs. Anderson and the other a grandson. Mrs. Anderson was a gold star mother, having lost a son in the World war.
Surviving are the husband and the following sons and daughters: Mrs. Alfred Curtis, Mrs. Delbert Harward, Mrs. Jas. C. Taylor and Andrew L. Anderson of Aurora, Mrs. Joseph Sheard of Salina and Ardie G. Anderson of Salt Lake City. Surviving also are one brother, James Colby of Delta; 22 grandchildren and 12 great grandchild.
