DEATH NOTICE: Hiawatha Daily World - February 7, 1992

Doris E. Babbit, 76, Hiawatha, died Thursday evening Feb. 6, 1992 at the Hiawatha Community Hospital. She was born March 7, 1915, in Robinson, Kansas, to Thomas Andrew and Helen Ernestine Bechtel Thompson. She grew up in Robinson and graduated from Robinson High School. She married Roy E. Babbit in Brown County on March 10, 1940. He preceded her in death on March 29, 1982. Mrs. Babbit was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, and the auxiliary of VFW, all of Hiawatha. She is survived by a daughter, Brenda K. Owens of Lenexa, Kansas, and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be Monday, Feb. 10, 1992, at 10 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church, Hiawatha, with Pastor Lawrence Boye officiating. Mrs. Babbit will lie in state Saturday and Sunday at the Framke-Casselman-Meek Funeral Home where family and friends will meet Sunday evening from 7 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at the Mount Hope Cemetery, Hiawatha. Memorials are suggested to the cancer fund and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
