He married Betty Camp, and she survives. They moved to Kentland from Munster in 1986. He served in the Army during World War ii in the European Theater, and received the Purple Heart. He also served in the Rangers with the Ski Patrol.
Surviving with his wife are four daughters, Nannette Wargo of Hammond, Susan Grupka of Indian Mound, TN, Lisa (Mrs. Mike) Krueger of Half Moon Bay, CA, and Joan (Mrs. Jon) Papillo of Munster; three sons, Emerson B. DeLaney, Jr. of Chesterton, Thomas DeLaney of Dale City, VA, and David Delaney of Steger, IL; a stepdaughter, Sherry (Mrs. John) O'Malley of Hammond; three stepsons, Greg Zalkowski of Burnham, IL, Russ Zalkowski of Kentland, and Rodney Zalkowski of Hammond; four grandchildren and four step-grandchildren. Service Dec. 15, McMullan-Stitz Funeral Home, Kentland; internment Memory Gardens, Rensselaer.
