Ruby Jewel (Cain) Dougless, age 88, of Tuscumbia, passed away on Friday, July 1, 2011 at home.

Visitation will be 2:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. with the funeral to follow at 3:30 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home in Tuscumbia. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.

She was born October 15, 1922 in Colbert County, to the late Jim and Leafy Cain. She was the beloved mother of three children, grandmother to six grandchildren and great-grandmother to eight great-grandchildren. She enjoyed quilting and hand-made each of her children and grandchildren individual quilts and gave many as gifts. She was an avid reader of Christian and inspirational books and made it a hobby to read over 100 in her later years. She will be remembered by many as an employee of Big K and later Wal-Mart, where she retired in 1985.

She was an active member of Valdosta Baptist Church and loved her church family very much. She was a member of the Tuscumbia Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James Grady Dougless; grandson - Christopher Andrew (Andy) Dougless; Brothers - Archie Cain, LeRoy Cain, and Warren Cain; sister - Hazel Bacon; son-in-law - Elton Sneed.

Mrs. Dougless is survived by one son - Doyle W. Dougless (Jan) of Tuscumbia; daughters -Linda Richardson (Jacky) and Diane Sneed, both of Tuscumbia; a number of nieces and nephews; grandchildren - Jacquelyn Kobet (Gary) of Soddy Daisy, TN, Douglas Richardson (Alison) of Alabaster, AL, Dr. Christi Johnson (Steve) of Mobile, AL, Tammy Rickman (Doug) of Muscle Shoals, Jennifer Freeman (Shane) of Cullman, AL; great-grandchildren, Deanna and Jack Kobet, Andi and Wesley Johnson, Molly Freeman, Halie, Drew and Houston Rickman; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Cain, Clara Campbell, and Estelle Counce.

Pallbearers are Donnie Cain, Lyndon Cain, Jerry Cain, Archie Kimbrough, Jimmy Bacon, and Doug Richardson.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Kenneth Rose and Kendra, Sheila and Ashlee of Hospice of North Alabama.
