Harry Ward Armentrout, 84, a resident of Glady, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, 2004, in the Intensive Care Unit of Davis Memorial Hospital.
He was born Dec. 25, 1919, at Beaula, the son of the late Stanley Armentrout and the late Rosa Lantz Armentrout Ogden.
He was married to Hazel Rennix Armentrout, who survives at Glady.
Also surviving are two sons, Harry L. Armentrout of Beverly and Bill Armentrout of Charleston; one daughter, Barbara Rahn of Farmingville, N.Y.; two brothers, Stanley Armentrout of Rittman, Ohio, and Harold Ogden of Elkins; three sisters, Hallie Bryant of Fayetteville, Betty Hanna of Tulsa, Okla., and Helen Davis of Harman; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Also preceding him in death were one brother, Bill Armentrout; one sister, Rosalea Phillips; and two grandchildren.
Mr. Armentrout was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He was employed by Monongahela Power Co. for 35 years, serving as Appliance Service Division foreman and was a substation foreman at the time of his retirement.
He was a member of Davis Memorial Presbyterian Church and H.W. Daniels Post 29 American Legion. He was a 50-year member of Elkins Lodge No. 108 AF & AM and served as past worshipful master, a past high priest of Royal Arch Masons, past commander of the Knights Templar and was a member of the Osiris Shrine.
Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. today at the Tomblyn Funeral Home in Elkins. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Robert Wenger officiating. Interment will follow in Maplewood Cemetery where Elkins Lodge No. 108 AF & AM will conduct Masonic graveside rites. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, West Virginia Affiliate, 1221-A Ohio Ave., P.O. Box 1115, Dunbar, W.Va. 25604 or to the Elkins Dialysis Center, 100 Main St., Elkins, W.Va. 26241 in memory of Mr. Armentrout.
